Temperature and density dependent solute vibrational relaxation in supercritical fluoroform

چکیده
Temperatureand density-dependent vibrational relaxation data for the v6 asymmetric stretch of W~CO!6 in supercritical fluoroform ~trifluoromethane, CHF3! are presented and compared to a recent theory of solute vibrational relaxation. The theory, which uses thermodynamic and hydrodynamic conditions of the solvent as input parameters, shows very good agreement in reproducing the temperatureand density-dependent trends of the experimental data with a minimum of adjustable parameters. Once a small number of parameters are fixed by fitting the functional form of the density dependence, there are no adjustable parameters in the calculations of the temperature dependence. © 2001 American Institute of Physics. @DOI: 10.1063/1.1389853# JOURNAL OF CHEMICAL PHYSICS VOLUME 115, NUMBER 10 8 SEPTEMBER 2001

Temperature dependence of solute vibrational relaxation in supercritical fluids: experiment and theory
Ž . Ž . Vibrational lifetime T data for the asymmetric CO stretching mode of W CO in supercritical ethane and carbon 1 6 w x dioxide as a function of temperature at various fixed densities are compared to a recent extended hydrodynamic theory 1 . In ethane at the critical density, as the temperature is raised, T initially becomes longer, reaching a maximum ;70 K above 1 the critical temperature...

We present a theory for the temperature and density dependence of the vibrational lifetime T1 and the vibrational line position n of a solute in a supercritical solvent, both close to and far from the critical point. The theory is based on the relation between a classical force correlation function and T1 and n. The force correlation function is determined from density functional theory, and ca...
متن کاملDipolar solute rotation in a supercritical polar fluid.
Fluorescence anisotropy measurements reveal a non-monotonic density dependence for average rotation time (τ(R)) of a polar solute, coumarin153 (C153) in polar supercritical fluoroform (CHF(3)). The conventional Stokes-Einstein-Debye model, relating τ(R) to the solvent viscosity, fails to explain the observed density dependence, because the experimental viscosity increases monotonously with dens...
متن کاملND-stretching vibrational energy relaxation of NH(2)D in liquid-to-supercritical ammonia studied by femtosecond midinfrared spectroscopy.
Femtosecond midinfrared pump-probe spectroscopy was carried out to explore the dynamics of vibrational energy relaxation of NH(2)D in fluid ammonia NH(3). The ND-stretching fundamental of the partially deuterated solute NH(2)D was excited by femtosecond pulses centered at 2450 cm(-1), and both the ground-state bleach and the anharmonically shifted transient absorption of the same vibration was ...
